ACAN at Futurebuild and Beyond
We were excited to be a part of the build and exhibition for Architects Climate Action Network (ACAN) at Futurebuild 2025.
We worked to create a modular system that could be produced, assembled and taken down with minimal waste. The main concern, post exhibition, was what do we do with the parts? Luckily we were able to work with students at Watham Forest Collage, who were keen to learn about construction, as part of The Build Tomorrow: Construction Sustainability and Innovators Youth Summit.
With 10 students, ageing between 16-18 years, on site there was a rotation of 5 on, 5 off the stand. Dismantling and take down took place with all. Students did activities and workshops on the ACAN stand through the day. This was be the largest stand of the event.
Once the parts were dismantled, they were able to be taken to the College for further use. This is part of our usual effort to promote a circular economy. If these units are no longer required at a certain location, we can hopefully offer them to another project, or keep them safely in storage until they are required again, as part of our circular principles.
ACAN is network of individuals and organisations within architecture and related built environment professions taking action to address the twin crises of climate and ecological breakdown. ACAN operates as a network, bringing together governments, businesses, civil society organisations, and individuals, united by a shared commitment to building a sustainable and resilient future.
Futurebuild 2025 brought together thousands of industry professionals to explore the latest innovations, tackle key challenges, and make a real impact on the built environment.
The focus now shifts to Futurebuild 2026, where we’ll take things even further under the theme: Connect. It’s all about strengthening relationships across the industry, connecting specifiers with the supply chain, ideas with action, and people with opportunities to drive meaningful change.
Inspired by our Connect theme, Futurebuild 2026 introduces a radically redesigned floorplan to enhance networking, boost visibility, and create the best opportunities for exhibitors and visitors to connect and do business. Get in touch with the team to get involved.
