Centred around you

Our aim is to make construction simple, so that anyone can take part. Using only a mallet and a drill, 1-2 people can easily assemble all of our boxes. Using standard connections (supplied), the boxes bolt together, creating a rigid frame for your new space. We supply membranes to protect the boxes if used outside, and it can be clad in a variety of materials.

Permanent yet demountable

Being modular, U-Build is totally demountable and expandable so it can grow and move as you do. Whether you’re looking for a pod, large building or something for indoors, our system allows you to customise your build without limitation, then take it with you if you move locations.

Created with conscience

We care about people and the environment. U-Build was conceived as a low-impact building system suitable for the circular economy, where all parts are fully demountable and recyclable. Many of our solutions do not require concrete foundations, meaning they can sit on the ground with a light touch.

Our flatpack garden studios are perfect for a range of uses: to get some work done, sit back and relax, begin that hobby you always dreamt about or to store items and make well needed space in the house. All our products are custom made and centred around you, please use the designs outlined below to provide you with sample sizes and inspiration for potential uses for your own self build.

Homes

For larger sites or buildings which are going to be lived in permanently, our boxes can be made bigger and longer to help you get that extra space. It might be a cabin in the woods, a house extension, a new build house, or even a tiny house on wheels, whichever you choose, we are happy to help you come up with the perfect design.

These indoor designs can be a simple way to transform the use of a space without damaging your existing building. Whether you want to add a room-within-a-room, partition walls or even a staircase, we have a growing list of solutions. Many of the designs shown have come from client requests, so if you have a good idea for a new U-Build design then please feel free to let us know!

Community

The flatpack, modular system is perfect for self-build community projects. It is lightweight and requires minimal tools. The system can be used for small scale community interventions that are temporary or larger social justice projects such as housing.

U-Nest

U-Nest offers a range of U-Build designs for our wild animals and furry friends at home. These animal houses cover a range of designs, from indoor play spaces for our pets at home to biodegradable shelters for those hiding in the wild. The wild animal designs have been carefully crafted using Ecoboard, a natural material made from recycled agricultural waste.

Buy a Box

Buy a Box allows you to purchase our three U-Build Box types: the record box, furniture box and stage box. We love how the U-Build system offers endless possibilities, which is why you can now purchase these boxes directly from our workshop as flatpack pieces or pre-assembled items. Each box allows you to build all your creative endeavours: from displaying your record collection, designing a bespoke bed frame, or building a pop-up event space, the choice is yours.
